South Africa’s oldest building recently came to life in a sea of unique ice sculptures, décor, music and crowds for the private J&B Global party held at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town. The event was quite possibly the largest of its kind held at the Castle in over 300 years, turning this iconic landmark into an underwater wonderland with walls, halls and rooms transformed into a spectacular display of lighting effects.

Ice Art was there to add their own special blend of live entertainment and décor with ice sculptures such as a giant Fish Tank. This sculpture was 2m high and 3m long, weighing well over a ton. With an ice wall set up in a chill out zone, guests were able to refresh with water as they took a break from dancing the night away. The ice wall was adorned with the message ‘Refresh, Rehydrate, Remember the Party’ carved into the ice along with intricate engravings of marine life, to remind guests to party safely.

Armed with chainsaws and chisels, the Ice Art team also created three fountains that produced bottled water, allowing guests to rehydrate during the course of the event. As crowds stopped to gaze in awe of the event, many partygoers agreed that the Fish Tank was by far the focal centrepiece of the party that drew a number of local and international guests along with media representatives.
