Each year, Christmas ice sculptures become popular once again, as ice artists work to create fantastic works of art in the form of all things Christmassy. Angels, Santa Clause, snowmen, giant ice trees and many other festive sculptures can all be seen. The Northern Hemisphere becomes very much like Santa’s North Pole during the holidays, with special ice festivals and other events held each year that showcase some of the top ice sculpture designs. Some of the top ice carving designs include some of the following:

Ice Christmas Trees
Not surprisingly, realistic Christmas trees made of ice are one of the most popular designs over the festive season. In snowy countries, these can be displayed outdoors, and with specialised decor additions such as electronic candles, LED lighting and other effects, these trees can be lit up just like a real tree. While these can be seen at some of the ice festivals across the world, they are also often displayed in town squares and other public locations so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of a lit up tree made entirely of ice.
A Charlie Brown Christmas in Ice
In Nashville, Tennessee last year, the classic and much-loved tale ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ was recreated in ice. Ice workers from China were brought in to create a series of scenes from this popular TV show in honour of the late Charles Schultz, whose family had come to Nashville especially for the sculpture. “We’ve all seen an ice sculpture, we’ve all seen carvings, but I think to see room after room of these Charlie Brown Ice sculptures is going to be mind boggling. I think that when it comes to these ice sculptures that they are going to be perfect and Charles would have loved them all,” said Jeannie Schulz, who is the wife of the late Peanuts cartoonist Charles Schulz.
Santa and his Reindeer
Of course, no Christmas ice festival would be complete without a life-like Santa and his team of reindeers. These sculptures are usually one of the biggest draw cards, especially when ice artists add a sleigh full of Christmas presents. Children in particular tend to love these sculptures the most, and with every detail included, the wonder of Christmas is apparent for all to see – especially the little ones!
Ice Snow Flakes
Perfect for creating a winter wonderland setting, intricate snowflakes are nature’s very own natural sculptures made of ice. No two snow flakes are the same, and every single one of them is perfect in its design. When these are recreated, the effect might not be quite the same but the overall look is nevertheless outstanding – larger than the microscopic snow flakes that fall from the sky, these ice flakes have all the detail and design that make these Christmas ice sculptures such a marvel to behold.
